Today you are mine. You are not good, you are not the hero, you are not the one that is liked, you are mine. You are that piece that triggers others, that says the wrong things at the wrong times, is in the wrong place at the wrong time. Yes, you are the one pointed at, disgusted with, pointed at, called out. You are the one that all can live without. A loss that would not even be noticed aside from things not being done. Only superficial. You would only be missed because you were a cog in a wheel, no more. Easily replaceable, easily forgot.
Today you are mine. Nothing is what you are. A waste of people's time, a bother in their lives, a burden to their schedules. A thorn in their side is what you are. No more than a problem, this is what you are.
You feel that, in your gut? That pit of disappointment and shame? The feeling that occurs with each look toward, each word from, each glance. You do nothing for them but weigh them down, hold them back. You take up space another could have. You are nothing, you should not exist, you are a mistake.
They say different yet I know you better than them. I walk with you, I breathe with you, I am you. You may think all these many things yet today I tell you the truth, you are not worth the air you breathe.
You know I am right. I have been pounding it into you all day long and you are getting weaker and weaker in your defense. It is fun to watch you struggle. It is fun to watch you shy away from asking for help because you are so ashamed. Yes, this is fun to watch. All your help, right in front of you and I have so much control that you cower to reach out. You won't reach out and you wont scream out for help and it makes you look so weak and meanwhile I sit back and watch one of my greatest masterpieces unfold. I will destroy you before it is all said and done. I will because you are afraid of me. Tough as you may be, tough as you may feel, tough as you may look, at the end of the day, i still win.

October 15, 1991 was a Tuesday. I was a junior at EIU studying Journalism. I remember waking up that morning feeling overwhelmed to a level I had never experienced. My roommate left for class and I sat there looking at the clock calculating what the last possible moment could be before I left for mine. The minutes continued to tick away until finally I put my shoes on, went out to my car, drove home, and walked away from it all. I remember when I got home. I was asked why I was there and, now that I think back to it, my answer of "I'm not going back" may not have been the best statement to make. No more numbers

It has been a pretty full afternoon. I finally slowed down about 8 while working on a friend's computer. I knew I had "stopped long enough to breathe" as I was hit with a wave of anxiety. I react to anxiety a lot different now. Instead of letting it overwhelm me and take control, I generally think to myself, "oh, well, look at that" and take a deep breath or two. That is what I did earlier. Just took a few breaths, acknowledged the anxiety, reminded myself that I knew what it was being triggered by, told myself I would address it later, then kept working on the computer. I was able to meet with my old nutritionist this afternoon. I am so glad I followed my desire to hunt her down as it was a great meeting. We caught up on things, talked about my getting healthy journey and surgery. Hey Blewy Hey there. You've been sitting here a while, you ok? Yah, just looking around the empty gym and thinking. Will you share with me what is on your mind? Like, what do you know about this gym? Is it a familiar place or just a plain old gym? Oh, it is no ordinary gym, never been. This is the gym from my middle school days. Not sure why, yet when I have tried to imagine the rowdy kids and the loudness, this is where it is. Seems a little ironic as, even though I really did not care for middle school, a lot of great things happened in this gym. I played ball in this gym and 10 years later would return and coach here.
